A series of thematically connected dance miniatures represents a search for one\u2019s own poetics through the reading of others. As Van Sant erased the boundary between his own words and Shakespeare\u2019s texts in the 1991 film My Own Private Idaho, so my private own* intertwines its reality with what could be called &#8220;cinematic dreaminess&#8221; \u2014 the building of a personal fiction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To stand alone in the middle of a road, alone on stage.<br \/>\nTo be one\u2019s own in the exposed, vulnerable and tender revelation.<br \/>\nA gaze within \u2013 a young body, intimacy, one\u2019s own and \u2013 is it even private?<br \/>\nCan I feel at home here?<br \/>\n&#8230;when, in a moment of ecstasy, we fall asleep.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Memories, experiences, or materials from a personal archive compose a kind of heuristic dance that confronts questions of home, privacy, and intimacy in a space where everything is visible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>After the performance, there will be a discussion with the author and performer.
